Snug

Bruce installed insulation in the walls and ceiling this week. The building inspector is coming around on Monday to check it all before the gib board is installed.

Below: looking north-west. The deck beyond the French doors is already a favourite spot for all of us, including the cat.

Below: looking north-east to the kitchen area. The mixture of tubing and wires is the stuff that leads from the heat pump to the outside heatpump unit. from the future heat pump. The installer cut large holes in the studs to pass it through. He screwed steel brackets onto the studs to strengthen them, but Bruce reckons the holes are excessive and is worried about what the building inspector will say. Bruce wasn’t here when the stuff was installed, and he would have preferred to see it taken straight through the wall, then taken straight down below to underneath the outside decking, then taken under that decking to the outside heat pump unit.

    I agree with Bruce

Oh oh…golly, don’t those heat pump guys have to work with the contractor and worry about the structural integrity of things? I’d think they could lose their license if they screw someone else’s job (so it didn’t meet code) in order to do their own. Not good. Hope Bruce doesn’t have to redo any of the wall because of them…more time, more money!

Boy, /Bruce seems to have his problems with subcontractors.

    Sorry to hear that.

Excellent that you’ve been taking lots of pictures of the walls before the gib board goes up. Those pics can be really helpful some day in the future when you need to know what’s behind those walls.

Agreed, the pictures are a very wise choice indeed. I hope things work out for you when the building inspector comes around!
